 Graphics & Computer Vision Research Group

This group is involved in research and development activities related to
Computer Graphics, Pattern Classification and Machine Learning. The group has a dedicated lab, which has high performance Intel(R) Xeon Machines with support for graphics applications. The lab is equipped with real time input devices required in computer vision and graphics applications including Digital Cameras, Digital Tablet, High-Speed Scanners, etc. Current research of the group focuses on the following areas:

  • Cursive Handwritten Character Recognition
  • Object Recognition
  • Visualization with NURBS using simulated annealing for optimization
  • Face Recognition
  • Hand Sign Language Recognition

 Performance Engineering Lab [PEL]

The PEL lab focuses primarily on performance measurement/enhancement in a number of contexts. Some of these areas are Parallelization, Multimedia Client-Server technologies, Real Time Network Services, Quality of Service Issues. It has a 16 machine dedicated cluster for distributed computing/parallelization. Interconnectivity is provided using a Cisco 3550-T Gigabit Switch for high-throughput. Current research in the lab focuses on the following areas:

  • Parallelization of Iterative Heuristics
  • QoS performance for real-time application using MPLS
  • Performance of Web-Servers for real time multimedia streaming
  • Implementation and performance evaluation of MPLS testbed

Cryptography Research Group  

The Cryptography research group is working on developing

  • new robust cryptographic techniques based on algebraic geometry,
  • cryptographic protocols for a variety of internet and wireless based applications including e&m -commerce, multimedia communication and content security, and
  • cryptosystems with inherent countermeasures.
