Description

The purpose of this course is to help improve students' ability for presenting their technical work. It also teaches students about the nature of engineering as a profession, codes of professional conduct, ethics & responsibility, and the role of engineering societies. The course features students' participation in discussions held by COE faculty members and invited guests.

Guidelines

This is a Pass/Fail class. The passing criteria are:

  1. Attending a minimum of 80% of all presentations
  2. Delivering a presentation on an emerging field of Computer Science & Engineering. The presentation should be either:
    1. Extracted from (or related to ) the student’s MS/PhD research proposal
    2. Survey papers (at least 4) recently published (within the last three years) or published in high impact conferences or reputed Journals

You are required to do the following before delivering a seminar:

  1. Send an e-mail to the course coordinator specifying:
    1. Title of the seminar
    2. Abstract
    3. Your short biography (CV)
  2. Submit a copy of the MS-PowerPoint presentation slides 3 days before the scheduled presentation date to the course coordinator
  3. Submit an electronic copy of the paper(s) that form the basis for the presentation
