Dr.
Umar Al-Turki is a Professor in the Department of Systems
Engineering, at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran,
Saudi Arabia. He is currently the Dean of College of Computer Sciences and
Engineering. He Obtained
his Ph.D. in Decision Sciences and Engineering Systems from Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York, USA, in 1994. He obtained an M.Sc.
in Industrial Engineering and Management from Oklahoma State University,
Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA, in 1989. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc.
degrees in Systems Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and
Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, in 1982 and 1986 respectively.
Since joining KFUPM, Dr. Al-Turki has been involved in teaching
courses in Production Systems, Production Scheduling, Quality Control and
Operations Research. In addition, he has been involved in basic research
in the areas of Scheduling Theory and Quality Control.
He was also involved in several applied projects with local
industry in the area of strategic planning and productivity improvement.
He conducted short courses and workshops in statistical process control,
operations cost reduction and total quality management in different
organizations in the Gulf region. He was involved in several projects in
operations strategic planning for several organizations such as Amiantit
Group, Benladen Group and Okaz. He is specialized in developing
quality control and cost reduction programs for manufacturing and service
industries. His research in quality and production scheduling is presented
in many international conferences and published in highly prestigious
international scientific journals. |
